At Johnson City Rugby, a new year means fresh leadership and ambitious goals to drive our club forward. With a strong leadership team now onboarded, we’re setting our sights high for 2025, focusing on growth, community engagement, and fostering connections that strengthen the sport we love. Here’s how our leaders are stepping up to ensure success this year:

Engaging the Community

Adam Jasenak, President

Adam is leading the charge to deepen connections within our local community by engaging local businesses to support the team. By building partnerships and creating opportunities for collaboration, Adam is laying the groundwork for sustainable growth and greater community involvement.

Fostering a Motivated Leadership Team

Amanda Blackwelder, Vice President

Amanda is focused on filling open leadership roles and building a full, motivated team. Her emphasis on fostering fun team bonding activities ensures that our leadership remains connected and inspired to take Johnson City Rugby to the next level.

Building Relationships and Growing the Game

Collin Waldron, Men’s Director

Collin’s mission goes beyond winning matches; it’s about building meaningful relationships with other teams and continuing our commitment to great communication. By fostering collaboration and supporting the broader rugby community, Collin is helping to grow the game while ensuring our players and club are part of something bigger.

Standardizing Communication

Ashley Joyner, Women’s Director

Ashley is leading efforts to streamline communication with recruits, ensuring a smooth and efficient onboarding process for new players. By automating initial contact and creating detailed leadership transition documents, Ashley is setting the foundation for long-term organizational success.

Recruitment and Retention

Andy Slagle, Men's Recruitment

Andy is taking on the challenge of recruiting and retaining players by focusing on growth within local communities and high schools. His goal is to make Johnson City Rugby a household name in the Tri-Cities area, ensuring we continue to develop talent and foster a love for the game.

Enhancing Social Media and Match Planning

Cristen Cox, Women’s Communications

Cristen is focused on developing a stronger social media presence and enhancing match videography to support player education and engagement. From planning matches to organizing a Referee 100 Course, Cristen is committed to fostering growth on and off the field.

This summer, Johnson City Rugby is hosting Wagon Wheel 10’s, a fast-paced 10-a-side tournament featuring men’s and women’s brackets. Teams from across the region will take the field, bringing strong competition and high-energy play. The tournament will take place at: Woodland Elementary 2303 Indian Ridge Rd, Johnson City, TN 37604 Registration is open, and teams are locking in their spots.
